Album Bobbie Gentry and Glen Campbell. Mornin Glory Lyrics. Good mornin', mornin' glory Good mornin', what's your story Good mornin', where'd you spend the night Where did your night dreams take you Sorry, but I had to wake you Oh, I just had to make you Shed your precious mornin' light on me, yeah. Oh, good mornin', sleepy baby You know, I'm thinkin' maybe I love you even more today Every time you go to sleep I'm jealous of the dreams That keep. Sadly, the latter is under-represented here, as only her minor Mornin' Glory makes the cut compared to two of Campbell's own songs and a sweet but slight duet remake of his signature song, John Hartford's Gentle on My Mind, but Gentry's special vocal blend with Campbell - the pair's voices harmonize utterly deligh. Unlike Gentry, Glen Campbell could do no wrong. Like Gentry, however, Campbell had come from rural poverty he had left home as a teen to join his uncles band, eventually pitching up in LA to work as a highly versatile session guitarist. He had also toured with The Beach Boys in the mid-60s, subbing for Brian Wilson. This effortless familiarity became the defining feature of Bobbie Gentry And Glen Campbell, released on 16 September 1968. A mix of covers and originals, the album solidified Campbells appeal and steered Gentry away from her more outré impulses
