On the Radio is a song by American singer and songwriter Donna Summer, produced by Italian musician Giorgio Moroder, and released in late 1979 on the Casablanca record label. It was written for the soundtrack to the film Foxes and included on Summer's first international compilation album On the Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes I & II. It was released as a single and became, in February 1980, her tenth top-ten hit in the U. as well as her eighth and final consecutive top-five single. On the Radio. The song was released in three formats: the radio 45rpm single the 5 minute version included on Summer's Greatest Hits double album package, and a DJ Promo 7 minute version released on 12 single and included on the Foxes film soundtrack album. This last version was later released on the Bad Girls CD digipack double CD release. In that respect, On the Radio is perhaps the most well-timed greatest hits package ever. It is the swan song for discos moment in the spotlight, but not its existence in total. Still, as a hits package, On the Radio leaves plenty out omissions that later collections such as the double-disc Donna Summer Anthology have rectified, most notably Loves Unkind, a kicky 50s sock hop takeoff, the funky bugaboo and oddly Anglicized Rumour Has It, and Could It Be Magic, a spectacularly kitschy Barry Manilow cover that also happens to. Product Description. On The Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes I & II by Donna Summer. The queen of disco-known now for her fundamental conservatism but then known for her extended sex romps that pulsated as minutes turned to hours-Donna Summer recorded a series of hits that playfully courted decadence and consistent chart success. Such a joy to finally get this album on cd finally. This was my very first Donna Summer album back in 1980 and includes most of her hits from her golden era with Cassablanca records. There is probably not a better compilation around. This tracks all blend into each other providing the perfect party or driving music.
