Grant Hart's 1988 debut EP '2541' in full on YouTube for the first time. The EP is notable in that it was the first solo release from any member of is the first solo EP by Grant Hart, formerly of the band Hüsker Dü. It was his first solo release after the break-up of Hüsker Dü in January 1988 and was released as a 3-inch mini CD single and as a 12-inch, 45 rpm vinyl single. 2541 and Come, Come were re-recorded for the album Intolerance 1989. The name was inspired by 2541 Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis, the headquarters of influential independent record label TwinTone Records. For a time, Hüsker Dü had an office space next door to Twin. This is a studio EP or CD-single released in support of Grant Hart's solo album Intolerance back in 1988. The first two tracks are alternate recordings of two of the best songs from that album the third track is a quasi-rap B-side probably done for novelty one of the verses is mostly about cookies. I like the alternate versions of 2541 and Come Come. They're paced more calmly than the album versions and have a nice wide mix with some reverb not too much and female backing vocals
