The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face - Roberta Flack. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. And the first time, ever I lay with you I felt your heart so close to mine And I. 4: First Time Ever I Saw Your Face In The Style Of Roberta Flack. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face is a 1957 folk song written by British political singersongwriter Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger, who later became his wife. At the time, the couple were lovers, although MacColl was still married to his second wife, Jean Newlove. Seeger sang the song when the duo performed in folk clubs around Britain. Killing Me Softly with His Song. Lori Lieberman was the first to record Killing Me Softly with His Song in 1971. It became a bigger hit when covered by Roberta Flack in 1973. Her version won three Grammy Awards: Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Female Performer and it was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for 4 weeks. It was replaced by Love Train by The O'Jays, then returned to the top of the U. charts for another week. The first time ever I kissed your mouth I felt the earth move in my Flack first heard the song on a flight from Los Angeles to New York City where Lori Liebermans version was featured on the in-flight audio program. In September of 1972, Roberta was opening up for Marvin Gaye at the Greek Theater. Robertas version of Killing Me Softly was released in January of 1973. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks in February of 1973 and later for a week in March of 1973. A so-hilariously-more-than-obvious attempt by Atlantic to capitalize, cash in on the song's newly-reborn fame and attention brought on by the Fugees' cover. This could have gone completely sideways, but Soul Solution actually did a bang-up job with this version Although given the effort Atlantic made to get this mix done, you'd think they would have given it a wider release: Except for one Promo Only CD, these mixes can only be found on this vinyl. In The Number Ones, Im reviewing every single 1 single in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, starting with the charts beginning, in 1958, and working my way up into the present. Roberta Flack Killing Me Softly With His Song. HIT 1: February 25, 1973. STAYED AT 1: 5 weeks. A fun thing about pop music history: Everybody lies. There is a financial incentive to lying
