Manifesto is the sixth studio album by the English rock band Roxy Music. It was released in March 1979 by E. in the UK, Polydor in Europe and by Atco Records in the US. Following an almost four-year recording hiatus, Manifesto was Roxy Music's first studio album since 1975's Siren. The first single from Manifesto was Trash, which barely made the UK top 40. However, the second single, the disco-tinged Dance Away, peaked at no. 2, beaten to no. 1 for three weeks from 26 May 1979 by Blondie's Sunday. Manifesto - Roxy Music. Manifesto is solid, no weak songs. Add this to your collection and enjoy. Manifesto was the first album by Roxy music I was able to connect with - the earlier stuff being a bit too left field for my taste. I have long admired the trilogy of Manifesto, Flesh & Blood and Avalon. I bought Manifesto to rip to my mp3 player having owned the vinyl version since release. Whilst Manifesto is still a good album I was disappointed to find that the version of Angel Eyes on this CD is massively different to that on my vinyl copy of the album. Roxy Music has not particularly gone anywhere else either. Manifesto is the bands first release since it broke up after the obligatory lousy live LP in 1976. Though far more interesting than most such sets Who can forget the Byrds numbing 1973 reunion album Who can remember a thing that was on it, it offers only embellishments on the Roxy sound and story. The new record is a lovely footnote, but it can lead nowhere. That sound and story deserve a footnote: both were among the most glorious and eccentric of the Seventies
