The first of the pair of albums Stained Glass put out in the late 1960s, Crazy Horse Roads is an odd and unsatisfying patchwork of songs following several trends of the era. The most prominent of those is Buffalo Springfield-like folk-rock with dabs of psychedelia and country-rock, though it's far more from the Stephen Stills side of the Springfield than the Neil Young one. The wonderful world of Crazy Horse Roads, released in 1968 by Stained Glass, has been unjustly forgotten with the passing of time. The band started out life covering Beatles songs in San Jose, California. Their first single, a cover of the Beatles If I Needed Someone was released in 1966. Crazy Horse Roads is a unique effort, and much different from their jam oriented Aurora album. Crazy Horse is the debut album by Crazy Horse, released in 1971 by Reprise Records. It is the only album by the band to feature Danny Whitten, and it peaked at 84 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Members of this band had already released an album in 1968 as The Rockets, and had appeared on record twice with Neil Young as Crazy Horse. The core trio from the Rockets, Danny Whitten, Billy Talbot, and Ralph Molina, provided instrumental backing for Young's 1969 album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, and.
